Austrian wilderness with a Czech view! From Oberhaag, you'll head towards Schöneben and the trail will lead you through the rugged landscape of the Mühlviertel. The highlight of this section is the majestic Bärenstein – an iconic granite rock with a cross that guards the border. The viewpoint isn't part of the route, but if you're not racing against the clock, we highly recommend making a stop there (+10 min of your time). The views are absolutely gorgeous.

As you climb through the clearings and forest paths past Bear Rock, don't forget to turn your head for a second. You'll have the whole Lipno lake and Vítkův hrádek castle right in the palm of your hand! After that, the forest paths will lead you all the way to Schöneben, the mecca of Bohemian Forest cross-country skiing.

💡 Tip for the car crew: Just a short distance from the exchange point lies the majestic 13th-century monastery and church in Aigen-Schlägl, which also features Austria's oldest active brewery. If you have some time between handovers, we highly recommend a quick stop.
